Indian fever.

The beginning of an Indian, Holi Festival inspired piece i just started the other day...

Holi

A land of harsh juxtapositions, impossible beauty and rich spirituality, India has been a destination I have longed to experience. Like so many people I have been captivated by the colour and chaos of this vibrant country.

I stumbled across some photos via Getty Images of The Holi Festivial, an ancient Indian celebration that erupts in a cloud of colour across India every year. The young and old playfully spray each other in vivid coloured flours known as Abeer and Gulal, happily celebrating of the arrival of Spring.

I thought I would share these photographs as they genuinely warmed my heart to see that such a simple thing can bring so much joy to so many.

Tribal treasures

The Omo River region of South-Western Ethiopia is home to fifty unique African tribes. The Omo Valley people are described to be one of the worlds last existing ancient tribes. Centuries have pasted but the Omo river people are still practising the culture and traditions of their ancestors.

Ghostly painted faces, colourful pigments and botanical head pieces make this tribe a true hidden gem. ‘Natural Fashion: Tribal decoration from Africa’ by German photographer Hans Silvester, has captured the colour and authenticity of these special people.  A perfect artistic inspiration.
